There are a few key features missing from this program that could make it a must have for card creation:

Data merge
Rulers and Dimensions when changing the size of boxes in the editor.

As is, it does not seem to getting regular support anymore and I think any prospective buyers should look elsewhere for the tools they need. I would be happy to update this to a recommend if data merge was added.. I like this program as a whole. The main reason is that this program automatically generates decks ready to be exported on to Tabletop Simulator. It makes my life 30 times easier. I highly recommend buying this for anyone making content for that game. I also like a lot of the features that make it easy to use.

The only issue I have with it is the fair share of bugs. I have had nothing crash my game yet, but a fair amount of things have made me redo blueprint changes. I am willing to overlook them as with time, I can get used to not saving changes made to a deck when one is present.. I love this app, I mean sure, it’s got a few bugs, like it crashes and I go on the internet to get a picture then open file explorer while the the internet is open, but other that that, it is a great app, I would like to make my own Pokémon cards using this app, I will never stop using it, it’s an app that will help make cards in a snap, would recommend to a friend, 5/5!!!. Can export files in Tabletop Simulator format, making playtesting your game a lot easier to prepare.. In the past I've used "Magic Set Editor" from source forge for free. There are plenty of templates and is --for the most part-- easy to use. It lacks easy customization, and is hard to make a custom card from scratch.

According to reviews and the description of this CARD CREATOR, I thought this would be a big step up in terms of quality of life improvements to the above mentioned program.

Running this program, I was met with a clunky, unintuitive UI. Could I learn over time how to use this smoothly? Possibly, but actions I wanted to do seemed to take more effor than if I used a simple photo editor like GIMP. The only thing you can do easily is cut up text/image fields into smaller fields... in fact its so easy it happens even when I don't want it to if I click too close to a border.

Big issue number two was when I went to import the first image onto my first card-- the program crashed! (Mind you, I'm not using a netbook or weak pc-- I'm running a gaming rig with a GTX 1080). Then when I was able to actually upload an image, I could find no way to resize it other than "fit", "fit width", or "fit height". No option to manually change the size, and the steam documentation page made no mention of it.

Then I went to add text to a card-- no matter what font, size, color, etc I picked, all the text look blurry both in the program and when exported.

I have filed for a refund because at this time I don't want this headache. This program has potential.... but as it is now, at $18 on sale, I cannot recommend it, especially with free programs out there that work better with far less frustration.. First, it's easy to use.

Second, it's already been updated several times based on feedback.

It still feels (as of right now) that it's still being built out, that the 1.0 was almost a beta release.

I'm happy to support the project, and I'm looking forward to seeing what future releases bring. Get this and start playing with your game ideas. The concept is there. I believe there is a large and growing niche market for a solid program.

However, the UI is not intuitive. (I've used Magic Set Editor and even delved into the scripting along with an archaic out of published system called Card Designer.) The icons greatly lack in variety. For example, no icon for dice. The ability to create unique cards such as rounded frames around artwork, multi-colored borders, etc. is not there. Then there are the bugs: such as it auto adding a star when clicking icon, and for some reason, refusing to let you change it, and even refusing to pull up the editing board, unless the program is shut down and restarted.

Again, I really want to like this program. But, and it's with sadness I write this, I have designed better cards in a word template I created myself (and I am terrible at graphic design). Maybe with time, they will make a finished product. But, as of right now, this product feels like it is an alpha state.

Sorry designers. I know you are working hard, and I will gladly keep my purchase and change my review when I come back when it's ready. I would think that might be a year or two though.. Very simple tool to use - I'm an amateur board game designer so have given this a whirl, and the ability to transfer these images across to Tabletop Simulator (TTS) is an absolute dream.

You can quickly rustle up a deck of cards and playtest it in TTS (without the need for printing, cutting and cleaning up a mess). Even better is that when you find changes to make, you just need to reopen the software and amend the deck with ease.

It's early days yet, and the user interface is almost too simple/basic, but it's important to keep in mind this is a playtest tool, evident through the functions such as "duplicate card" or "duplicate deck". Playtest with this software, fool around with your mechanics, and then take it to photoshop or another high-end software to produce the final product.

For the price, this is a great tool that, most importantly, will save you time over the long journey of playtesting.
