(Also, if you have trouble sleeping, play itu2026 you will be put at ease with the quickness (The game is THAT soothing and good; not to say that you will fall asleep from boredom (necessarily) )) This game is z enraging ; many cheap deaths.. A puzzle game requiring only use of the mouse, Borealis is extremely simplistic, relying on most of its draw from the minimalistic visuals and sounds, which manage to be geniunely atmospheric. This is the perfect game to put on when you're stoned and want something mellow to veg out with. Great for killing time, but only the most dedicated players will walk away with any real sense of accomplishment.. Sorry, generally I would say no, though it may be worth it for you at a high discount if it's something very specific that you are looking for. I understand the tone, the pacing, and the 'serene' 'zen-like' experience the devs were trying to create, but I think it fell a little short, which is sad because it was almost there: Pros: -You can easily zone out with this game, it really is almost a meditative experience -Quite a few games modes, though the variance within them is minor -I like the UI Cons: -I think the music fell short of really making that zen-like experience; it may be me, but I didn't find the music/audio that pleasing -The visuals also fell just slightly short; they had the makings of some nice mind-absorbing visuals, but lacked a little bit of polish in effects and coloring to take it all the way.. Amazing game if you have a stressful job and you just need a few minutes to relax after a long day.. If I had to describe this game in three words, I would say: Fun, relaxing and addictive. I'll definitely be spending many, many hours on this game, especially since it seems to get more challenging after the first few levels. Personally, I don't mind the capped cursor speed, since moving slow is what you're supposed to do. (so stop crying about this, kids!) The game itself is as described, so do make sure to watch the video and read the description on the store page before purchase. And do not forget to check the system requirements as well. Just saying. It is currently missing some features, such as 'pause' and 'save' but the devs are looking into it, so I'm sure we'll get those at some point.. There's an interesting idea here, but not enough is done with it to make it into an interesting game. The rules aren't clear, pace is slow and there's no real feedback or reward to the thing other than *dodge stuff for ages" Shame really - all foundations of an interesting game are there, but the actual game isn't. Make the rules clearer, give score based on minimal movement, give more for multiple collisions - y'know, GAME things.. Fun for few minutes only, but whatever, you should try.. The intended purpose of this game is to help induce a zen-like state. You're a defenseless slow-moving dot, and we're sending hundreds of thousands of missiles to kill you, SO RELAX! The key is in making subtle shifting movements, becoming one with space, letting your mind be free of the trials of everyday life. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?! HOW COULD I DODGE THAT!? This game is composed of several stages, though achievement hunters will become far too acquainted with the easy first one. All subsequent stages are an immediate ramp-up in difficulty, and some are simply much harder than others. It can be unbalanced in the score-based modes, since your second stage could be easy peasy, or what-the-heck difficult. As far as I can tell, stages you complete without dying don't show up in the rotation in subsequent games. If you have the patience, you could complete all of the stages, and see for yourself if there's a reasonable difficulty curve in your next game. They stages are certainly vivid, and could make for some nice screenshots if you're not too concerned about DYING HORRIBLY. While I appreciate what Borealis is going for, it's just not my thing. If I wanted to relax, I'd watch something, or play a puzzle game or an RPG. If I'm going to be pixel-close to death, I'd rather be playing a 2D shooter. At least that way I'd have some heavy firepower of my own, and can bathe myself in sweet gold whenever I destroy a mega battle-cruiser. I'm aware this completely goes against the design of this game. I'm sorry, but that's why it isn't my thing.. Short review: It's a turd, but it's a short turd at least. Long review: This is a very casual game where you play as a small dot avoiding lines that home in on your position. This game however does not come with a ton of options. Would it be nice to listen to music that isn't provided by the game in? Would it be nice to just turn off the game's volume? Would it be nice to play the game while it's windowed? The answer is irrelavent because the game doesn't have an option menu. Other than those issues, the actual game is very simplistic and gets boring pretty quick. You could describe this game as being like Asteroids without the option to shoot. Sure, when the game changes a level you get a different pattern, but these aren't exactly groundbreaking. Thank you Conrad Nelson for the cards, I will sell them promptly.. i could poop out a better game
