If you're a passionate gamer with a ton of mundane, everyday duty you have to take care of, finding spare time to enjoy all them new and old games can be very difficult. And when stress rears it 's ugly head, there are two options to relieve yourself of that pent-up frustration: Go play Carmageddon and enjoy mindless violence or play Borealis, a fun and relaxing abstract game. In Borealis, you are a small white dot trying to escape the touch of many incoming asteroids. Game rewards slow, precise and focused game play while actively punishes twitch-like behavior. The story is practically non-existent, but it does have an emergent meaning to it thanks to the superb music and sound effects and the look of the levels, where you'll wonder if levels are allegorical representations of basic human emotions, or maybe it'll look like a feverish dream of a would-be hacker. In one of the Card's descriptions, the main anti-hero of the Neuromancer is mentioned, so go figure. The main stars of this game are the carefully balanced rhythmic gameplay and excellent atmospheric music and sound effects that elevate Borealis into a "special kind" of game. Borealis is relaxing, wondrous, tough to beat, fair and introspective, and it gets a two-thumbs up. The price is quite fair too, so don't wait and enjoy this little Zen trip now.. Don't take drugs while playing this game ! 10/10 :). Game does not even start, dev doesn't care and doesn't provide any kind of troubleshooting - just look at the forums.. Amazing game if you have a stressful job and you just need a few minutes to relax after a long day.. I have to be honest. I only installed Borealis for the trading cards but i decided to give it a shot. It is a good game, fun to play, sometimes very challenging. Great game.
