Enlist yourself as CIA Agent Snake Logan in this Classic MS-DOS Game from my Childhood, save Metro City from being overrun by a Mutant Army and put an end to the Bio Terror that is Unleashed by Master Cain & Dr.. As someone who grew up in the Dos Era this is a Great Game loved it when I was a kid and love it now. The cheese corny dialogue, still great.. Want to go back to the past? This game, Bio Menace. Is a piece of history made with ID Software's Commander Keen Engine, licensed to Apogee Software, and made somewhat single handedly by ONE FRICKIN' MAN!? (citation needed). You take control of Snake Logan, yea most cliche-epic-soldier-name EVER! With 3 episodes you are to save the world from the mutants created by a maniac, Cain. The game itself is stylishly 8-bit and plays awesome and plays very good, and is enchanting. Decent to discover secrets, and SUPER FRICKIN' DIFFICULT HARD MODE! But if you are stuck, you can always cheat.. Want to go back to the past? This game, Bio Menace. Growing up I had a shareware disc, which for any of you old enough to know.Is essentially a disc companies would release with usually the first mission, or chapter of a game for free, like a demo. Then if you wanted the rest of the game, you would call and order it.As opposed to now where most companies want you to pay $150 for a collector's edition of a game that there's a media blackout on and review embargos on.My how times have changed! In any respect, once upon a time there was a company called Apogee. Which made games that I always found extremely enjoyable. I'd always equivocated Apogee games to having their own unique charm, like Rare or Capcom, you always knew when a game was made by one of those companies. This game was one of many charming and fun games on Apogees shareware disc that I never thought I would get the chance to play the full version of. This game is fun. It's challenging. Even to this day, it's a more complete and enjoyable experience than many of the modern retro games offered. You can't really go wrong getting this game, especially for the price. It's a side scrolling shooter, with various weapons, power ups, sidearms, enemies and bosses. While also requiring you to find things in the levels such as keys or power cards to open certain doors and progress. It's just straight fun.. Bio Menace never got the credit it deserved as one of the classic Apogee platformers. I still remember playing the shareware version of this game for hours and hours. It's challenging, fun, and you're a dude with a baller mullet.what more could you possibly need to know?. Buy it Buy it Buy it Buy it Buy it I love this game soo much <3. And another childhood classic I'm going to write about a bit: "Bio Menace". In this action platformer from 1993 by Apogee you are Snake Logan who takes care of mutated monsters and frees hostages for the CIA and not only has a strong body and moustache but also a variety of badass weapons like granades, bombs and guns. However, in order to progress he also has to collect hidden objects to open doors or switch off electric barriers. So it's a basic action sci-fi plot but it's fine. And the game might be a joy to play today as it was back then. The controls are very easy and leave little to be missed (like the ability to shoot upwards or downwards). The game is divided in three chapters which you don't have to finish in order. So you can also try out chapter three right away but, of course, the further Snake Logan gets, the harder the game gets. Speaking of hard: There are three classic difficulty options to choose from. The graphics are not horrible but I admit that the design could be better here and there, like the colours (too grey here, too colourful and bright there). A nice touch are the splatter and gore effects (skeletons, blood and meat flying through the air after killing a mutant.). The music is okay but it's not one of my favourites of my childhood games' soundtracks (although the very first level's music is quite catchy for me). All in all: I recommend it if you like (old) platformers including killing monsters and collecting weapons..
